Despite taking the pre-season title favourites all the way at the RAW Charging Stadium, Oxford City were beaten 2-1 by Chesterfield. Josh Parker's cushioned volley had cancelled out Tom Naylor's header in the first-half, and City were good value for a point on the night. However, a late goal from Will Grigg rescued the visitors all three points.
