Dereham progressed to the next round with heavy rain making conditions tricky. In the 4th minute a good defensive header by Rossi Jarvis sent Shaun Bammant forward who won a free kick 25 yards out. Rhys Logan’s strike forced home keeper Craig Foxall to concede a corner. Jarvis glanced Logan’s flag kick wide. Dylan Wilson and William Bates combined well to win Cogenhoe a corner. Dereham keeper Elliott Pride made a fantastic close range save to keep out Rico Alexander’s header from Archie Elmore’s centre in the 8th minute. The ball was skidding on the wet pitch as conditions worsened allowing players little room for error. Bammant had to receive lengthy treatment after a nasty clash of heads. The Magpies won a free kick on the left but Dion Frary headed off target. Fine passing between Jarvis and Andrew Fiske set Logan away winning another corner. Dereham finally made the breakthrough in the 38th minute. Jarvis again found Fiske who released Logan on the right. After reaching the by line his ball across goal was stabbed home by Shaun Bammant. Minutes later Adam Hipperson sprinted forward but his attempted square pass to Luke Johnson was intercepted. Jarvis was in commanding form at the back for Dereham as they led at the interval. With the rain persisting, play was scrappy before Bammant shot on the turn into Foxall’s arms. In the 55th minute Frary cut in from the right and hit a low left foot drive that Foxall comfortably saved. Visiting keeper Pride did well to get between two defenders and claim a ball from the left. Both teams were conceding possession cheaply before a good Dereham passing move finished with Logan’s 25 yard drive being deflected for a corner. A timely interception from Matt Castellan thwarted a promising Cogenhoe attack. Archie Elmore then was put clean through for the Northampton side but Pride saved his half hit shot. Johnson tested Foxall with a low drive from the edge of the box. Dereham sealed victory in the 87th minute when two superb tackles by hard working skipper David Hinton kept possession on the left. He found Mulready who passed to Rhys Logan inside the box who slotted home from close range. In added time Cogenhoe’s Patryk Cichosz was dismissed for bringing down Toby Hilliard just outside the box when put through on goal.
