Dereham exited the cup in a goal feast. The kick off was delayed by 15 minutes as it took Dereham 5 hours to reach the ground through traffic delays. Adam Gusterson fielded a very young side with Ryan John and Danno White making their debuts. Khalsa took an early lead in the 8th minute. A ball from the middle of the park split the visiting defence to find Jake Gosling who rounded keeper Elliot Pride and squared for Jummane Maggoe to tap home. Dereham had their first attempt in the 15th minute when Toby Hilliard’s snap shot drifted wide. Good defending by Danno White and then Ryan John thwarted another home attack. In the 24th minute Rhys Logan put Hilliard in on the right and his powerful volley was well blocked by Tesfa Robinson. The Magpies then produced a superb flowing move culminating with Logan working room for a shot which flew inches wide. As play switched ends Jake Gosling was upended in the box after a neat interchange. The midfielder got up to increase Khalsa’s lead in the 25th minute from the penalty spot. The home side made it three two minutes later with James McGrady slotting home. The Magpies soon reduced the deficit in the 28th minute when Adam Smith put Toby Hilliard through with a precise pass and he finished in great style. However Khalsa restored their three goal advantage in the 42nd minute minute. Gosling played a free kick straight up to Gurjit Singh who turned and side footed home first time. Hilliard was working tirelessly up front for the Magpies chasing direct balls. In added time Toby Hilliard scored his and Dereham’s second when he turned in Logan’s free kick in the 2nd minute of injury time to keep them in the game and go in at half time 4-2 down. Adam Hipperson forced home keeper Sheridan Martinez into a fine save after the break. A Logan corner caused panic in the home defence. Matthew Castellan made an important block from Meggoe’s drive. Dereham netted their third in the 56th minute when Logan put Adam Hipperson in and he rounded his man before cooly slotting home. The Magpies came agonisingly close to equalising when Jerry Dasaolu played the ball back to Ryan John who turned inside and hit a powerful left foot drive that struck the bar. Khalsa replied with Singh slipping the ball through to Gosling who hit the base of the post. The home side won a corner on the right which Pride handled well. John then made a good clearance at the far post. Gosling missed another good chance for the home side. Khalsa netted their fifth in the 83rd minute. Keeper Pride made a superb save but the ball fell to Jumaane Meggoe who drilled home the rebound. The Magpies won a free kick 20 yards out. Logan’s curler forced keeper Martinez into a good save. The Magpies scored their fourth in the 84th minute. Dasaolu crossed from the left towards Toby Hilliard who headed home to register a fine hat trick. Khalsa immediately netted their sixth through Jake Gosling. Dereham won a penalty in added time when Jerry Dasaolu was fouled. Adam Hipperson drilled home the spot kick for his second and Dereham’s fifth to see the game end Sporting Khalsa 6 Dereham Town 5.
