The pitchside view as Kurtis Guthrie's debut goal wasn't enough to recover Livingston from a 2-0 deficit at the interval at home to Dundee United in the Premier Sports Cup, with the Lions exiting the tournament in the last 16. First half goals from Steven Fletcher and Ian Harkes had the visitors in a commanding position at the interval. A change of shape and fresh personnel for the hosts in the second half swung momentum in their favour, but despite Guthrie bundling in from Montaño's knockdown with 13 minutes to go, they couldn't find an equaliser. Sean Kelly struck the woodwork from a free kick late on as the Lions agonisingly missed out on hauling level and taking the tie to extra time.
