The former England international, women's footballer, Karen Carney, sparked outrage among Whites fans after she made the comments during coverage of Leeds’ clash with West Brom on Tuesday. Carney claimed that Leeds, who won the Championship with 93 points last season, benefitted due to the Covid hiatus as it gave Marcelo Bielsa’s hard-working team ‘respite’ which led the club to hit back on Twitter. The official Leeds United account poked fun at Carney’s words by boasting how they had won the league by 10 points to end a 16-year absence from the top flight. Carney said: ‘Leeds out-run everyone and credit to them. My only concern would be, “would they blow up at the end of the season?”
