Wednesfield took on top of the league & long established open age team Stourbridge Ladies with half of last seasons championship winning squad missing, several U16s players & three players making their debut for Wednesfield. Despite this Wednesfield were much the better team for 80% of the match and also created the best chances. At 0-0 with around three minutes left Wednesfield scored what looked like a good goal only for the ref to disallow it for a foul on the keeper (unfortunately the video is inconclusive). Straight from the free kick the ball went through everyone & the Stourbridge #9 ran through to score. Wednesfield pushed everyone forward in search of the equlizer & in the last seconds were caught on the break and in the end lost 0-2. But full credit to Wednesfields young team who next season will be THE team to beat...
