About :

Hello one and all, welcome to another match vlog. This video shows highlights of Chester FC’s 2-0 defeat away at Spennymoor Town in the Vanarama National League North on Saturday 26th January 2019. This has turned into another disappointing result for us as we have now slipped out of the play-offs. We didn’t play too awful but questions need to be asked regarding our poor current run of form. Credit to Spennymoor who fully deserved the win, although we need to sort out our poor form up in the North East. We played rather well in the first half as we remained patient and broke up play successfully. At times we had to deal with pressure from the hosts who were more dominant, although we had flurries ourselves as Simon Grand’s shot went wide. Also, debutant George Waring started off well for us as his physical attributes played to his advantage as he won a number of free headers. However, the hosts went 1-0 up as Ryan Hall rounded Grant Shenton to tap the ball into the net. We went close to scoring an equaliser as good work by Ben McKenna found Waring who couldn’t stretch that extra mile to head home. Spennymoor went into the break 1-0 up although we gave a good account of ourselves in the first half. However, we just did not turn up in the second half and put in a dismal showing. Spennymoor‘s dominance showed as they had a number of spells, although we were handed a lifeline of the 55th minute mark as George Waring was brought down to earn us a penalty. Gary Roberts actually took the penalty (although Waring deserved to in my opinion) with his tame effort saved, and the rebound was fired over to cap off a dismal afternoon. The sucker punch came on the 79th minute mark as Glen Taylor’s shot went in to seal our fate, although Grant Shenton should’ve done better. In injury time George Waring managed to find the net for us, although it was ruled out as the ball went out of play prior to that. Spennymoor were deserved victors, but we need to be questioning our poor form. Our next match is in two weeks time as we are on the road to face Kidderminster Harriers away. We should’ve been at home to Blyth Spartans next week but due to Blyth being in the FA Trophy it has been called off which gives us a much-needed break. I will be going to Kidderminster so I will upload a match vlog and a preview closer to the time. Also, I will be going on a groundhop next Saturday which means that I will upload a vlog from that match, whilst during the week I will upload my ‘Chester FC Goal Of The Month’ video for January 2019. Hopefully you enjoyed today’s video so please like, subscribe and comment down your thoughts of the game below. Cheers, Rio.
