Woodbridge travelled to Haverhill making it three away games in a row with Liam Scopes out of the squad due to suspension with Aaron Churchyard taking his place. Haverhill started the game strongly and in the first attack the hosts right back Jacob Joseph’s cross was cut out by Alfie Stronge’s outstretched hand and cleared. Another Haverhill attack saw the ball put across the Woodbridge penalty area without any Haverhill player able to get a touch. Woodbridge started to come more into the game and a foul on Andrew Crowe just outside the penalty box and George Bowman’s shot just going over the bar. Another foul gave Woodbridge a free kick near the half way line and Jack Newman’s cross was headed just over by Kyron Andrews. Haverhill were conceding a lot of fouls and Jack Newman’s kicks were causing the Haverhill defence problems but could not be converted by an away forward. The game was flowing end to end with both teams playing some decent football. On 31 minutes Woodbridge took the lead, a Haverhill free kick into the Woodbridge penalty area was strongly headed out by Taylor Southgate into the path of Kyron Andrews who run into the Haverhill half beating two defenders before slotting the ball into the net. On 37 minutes Mark Ray had a good shot saved by the post by James Philp in the Haverhill goal. The half ended with Woodbridge pressing for another goal. Score 1 – 0. On 47 minutes Woodbridge increased the lead when Mark Ray won the ball in the penalty area and the loose ball was hooked into the net by Andrew Crowe. Score 2- 0. On 55 minutes Woodbridge increased the lead, Andrew Crowe won the ball in midfield passed to Mark Ray who side stepped two defenders and slide the ball into the corner of the net. Score 3 – 0. On 62 minutes Kyron Andrews who had worked tirelessly was substituted by new signing Taylor Bannister. On 65 minutes a 25 yard piledriver from Jack Newman had the Haverhill goalkeeper pushing it for a corner. Woodbridge were having most of the play and making good runs into the hosts defensive areas. On 70 minutes George Bowman was replaced by Tom Haste. On 75 minutes Haverhill got a goal back when left back Reiss Otenle crossed for Joe Rider to score from close range. Score 1 – 3. On 80 minutes Haverhill reduced the deficit when a free kick on the right wing went straight to Captain Ben Bradley to score with the Woodbridge defence static. Score 2 – 3. On 84 minutes another move down the Woodbridge right wing and the cross was headed in by Joe Rider. Score 3 – 3. Luke Mallett picked the ball up 30 yards out and hit a spectacular shot which rebounded off the post for a goal kick. Coming up to full time Andrew Crowe was pulled down in the penalty box and the referee awarded Woodbridge a penalty. Mark Ray hit the ball low to the keeper James Philp right who made a good save low down. In injury time Haverhill won the match after a needless free kick 20 yards out, the shot was hit towards the goal and Alfie Stronge could only parry the shot and the Haverhill substitute Aaron Hudson scored from close range. Score 4 – 3. There was still time for Mark Ray on two occasions to run through only for his efforts to go agonising just wide. Another game where Woodbridge did not deserve to lose but will not be pleased as to how they gave a 3 goal lead up.
