Both the Lankan openers were quickly dismissed, however, the middle order batters Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka and Janith Liyanage scored half-centuries and took their side to a great total of 308 runs for the loss of six wickets. During the chase, Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah scored fifties for Afghanistan, however, the other batters could not put up a fight against the Sri Lankan bowlers. In the end, Afghanistan became all-out for just 153 runs in 33.5 overs which resulted in a massive 155-run win for Sri Lanka.
