Glamorgan take on Essex in the opening game of Division 2 of the LV= County Championship. Glamorgan start on 11.5 points, while Essex sit at the summit on 19 after points carried over from the group stages. The two sides met two weeks ago in 50-over action, with Glamorgan winning the Royal London Cup semi-final by five wickets, on their way to winning the tournament at Trent Bridge a week last Thursday. Glamorgan are missing overseas stars Marnus Labuschagne and Michael Neser, but have Chris Cooke, David Lloyd, Dan Douthwaite and Timm van der Gugten returning from The Hundred, as well as Hamish Rutherford available.
