The Varsity Match; Oxford University vs Cambridge University from the home of Leicester Tigers, Mattioli Woods Welford Road, Leicester. For the first time ever, the Varsity Matches will take place at a weekend. It will be the perfect time to meet up with friends, bring the family or arrange a club trip to the ultimate festival of amateur rugby. We want to welcome fans of all different backgrounds, whether you’re a seasoned veteran or if you’ve never been to a game before. There really is something for everyone at the Varsity Matches. If you love the pride, commitment, rivalry and tradition that makes amateur rugby so special, we’ll keep you up to date with the latest news. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first men’s Varsity Match played at Twickenham, which has sadly been unable to take place at the home of English rugby due to national lockdown restrictions. Oxford and Cambridge University’s four rugby captains are determined to avoid a second year without a Varsity Match, and have set a new date for the annual ‘Battle of the Blues’ on Sunday, 4 July, 2021.
